Defective Tires and Car Accidents

A defective tire may be the cause of a serious auto accident that may result in personal injury or death. Defective tires cause auto accidents because they have a high risk of:

  • Tread separation
  • Blowout
  • Rim explosions

A driver may unknowingly have a defective tire on his or her vehicle. The tire may not look defective and may not explode or have a blowout. A defective tire, however, will make it difficult for a driver to control the vehicle especially in dangerous situations.

A defective tire may not handle well in certain weather conditions such as rain, sleet, or snow. The inability for a driver to handle a vehicle in all weather and road conditions put the driver at a high risk of having a car accident.

Many drivers believe they have high quality tires because they have purchased them from household names like Goodyear, Firestone, and Cooper Tire Company. Unfortunately, these tire manufacturers have had to recall several of their tires over recent years because they have caused car accidents or have been shown to possibly cause car accidents.
