Feds Ask For Improved Pedestrian Safety

Pedestrian accidents can be devastating and occur at high rates in Orlando and across the state of Florida. Unfortunately, pedestrian accidents often result in fatal or catastrophic injuries to the pedestrian. Motorists and pedestrians must follow roadway laws and take care to avoid this type of accident.

In response to a rising number of pedestrian accident fatalities over the last couple of years, the Federal government is making grants totaling $2 million available to certain cities with the highest rates of pedestrian deaths (including Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Jacksonville). The grants are intended to pay for education and enforcement initiatives related to these types of accidents.

The government has also created a website related to the issue: www.nhtsa.gov/nhtsa/everyoneisapedestrian. The theme, everyone is a pedestrian, reminds us that we all are pedestrians at certain times, so it’s in our best interest to take care when we are motorists to prevent auto accidents involving pedestrians.

If you are a pedestrian that has been injured in a car accident, you deserve the compensation you need to make a full recovery from your injuries. Orlando accident attorney Michael Barszcz will fight aggressively to pursue this compensation on your behalf.

If you or a family member has been injured in a pedestrian accident in Orlando or anywhere across the state of Florida, please contact the Law Offices of Michael Barszcz, M.D., J.D., for a free consultation.
