A video has recently surfaced on the internet showing Florida State’s tight end Nick O’Leary getting in a motorcycle accident back in May. Apparently, a city bus stopped right in front of where the accident happened caught it on tape, because some city buses are equipped with cameras.
The video shows O’Leary driving up the road, when suddenly a Lexus pulls out in front of him. His motorcycle plows over the front end of the Lexus, ejecting O’Leary from his motorcycle. Fortunately, O’Leary walked away without critical injuries and appears to be more or less recovered.
Car vs. motorcycle accidents are commonly caused by:
- Failing to see and recognize a motorcycle on the road
- Turning in front of a motorcycle
- Rear ending a motorcycle
- Failing to yield right of way to a motorcycle rider
Motorcycle riders can of course be the cause of an accident as well, but drivers of passenger cars have to take particular care not to pull in front of motorcycles, even though they can be difficult to see.
